I have a 5 month old pit/rott cross, he is the best dog I've ever had.
When I first got him (at 9 weeks) I myself was a little skeptical about how his temper was going to be.
I have not yet had a problem with him, he loves people, children, cats, and other dogs.
He is a very very loyal pet, he has to be by your side at all times.
My fiancee and him rescal around, when my fiancee has ad enough he says "stop" and my pup knows that it was just a game and they are done.
He is also very smart, he knows how to shake, roll over, high five, high ten, speak, and crawl. We are in the process of teaching him how to stand.
So I have nothing but GOOD to say about pit bulls. It's really sad that these dogs have such a bad rep. My friend has a lab that went after another dog the other day and ripped a huge chunck out of this other dogs side. so ALL dogs can be mean, not JUST pit bulls, rottweilers, dobermans, german shephards. |

| When will people place the blame on these attacks where it belongs? Irresponsible owners. |

Yea I wish they would tell us about the other breeds that attack postmen as well
I forget the number but it was like 40 some attacks this year, how many are pits I wonder? How many are not? |
I tried to look this up on the CDC site (Center for Disease Control)... they only have some documentation over a 20? year period and it ends in the the late 90's. Couldn't find anything really "up to date". |

| I get the AKC Family Dog Magazine and in it I found an ad: Linda Bates and Rowdy have been making hospital therapy visits to sick children and psychiatric patients for nearly 11 years. A beloved and much honored member of her community, the certified therapy-dog Rowdy has been an ideal representative of a breed too-often misunderstood by the public. Rowdy provided unconditional love and acceptance that many children had not known before. For many, this was their first encounter with a dog of this breed who is a cherished and loved pet. Rowdy is an American Staffordshire Terrier (also known as pitbull) they are in California. |

I clipped the toe-nails of a English (not american) Staffordshire terrier today and she was a total DOLL! She was much smaller than the average pitt, but she was very shy, very sweet, and i bet she would have let me do anything to her |

I've noticed that breeds like rotties (I love them!), pit-bulls, boxers, and bulldogs do great getting their nails clipped, and breeds like labs, great danes, shepherd's and toy breeds do not do as well. its just what i've noticed with the ones that come in.
My store manager (breeds corgi's) she said its all because the people need to play with the puppies feet and continue to cut their nails, and play with their feet so as they get older and go to groomers or just get their nails clipped at home, they won't mind it because they will be used to it. |

| I was readin one of those bully magazine's and they said that any more 90% of people in the media don't know the difference between pit bull and other breeds such as a lab, a dalmation, or even a mastiff. And when they even know the breed they still say that it is a pit bull even when its not because they get more ratings and readers by sayin a "pit bull" attack when it was really another breed. It drives me nuts I tell people who do not trust the breed and tried to talk me out of gettin mine and they didn't believe me until i showed them. Before my own pit starting gettin his noticable head people asked me if he was a boxer because of his coloration. And when me and my fieance corrected them by saying that he was an APBT they jumped back like ten feet and refused to pet him even though they were pettin him while they still thought he was a boxer. He didn't do anythin to them for them not want to pet him anymore. He loves people kids are is favorite i have never seen a breed so gentle with kids like this breed is. I tell people they can pet him and the only thing they have to worry about is his tongue and his tail. He doesnt jump up on people he is really well matter. And people still dont trust him because of the lies of the media and those idiot backyard breeders or irresponsible owners. Its the breed and the responsible owners that suffer from the breeds bad image that is stuck like glue in most peoples minds. I am so happy when i met someone that understand that the breed has nothing to do with it that it is 100% the owners responsibility. People are so amazed when i tell them that back in the 70's that rotts and dobies had the same reputation as the pits do now. alot of the dont believe me or get mad and walk a way. I have researched this breed alot and still doing it. and everything that i have read about this breed is that they were never bred to attack people they were bred to be loyal family pets. |

PLEASE ANYONE WHO IS BREEDING THESE BEAUTIFUL DOGS, PLEASE KEEP THEM INDOORS UNTILL THEY HAVE ALL SHOTS, THEY ARE REALLY SENSITIVE TO THE VIRUS, SO MANY PITBULL PUPPIES DIE FROM THIS BECAUSE OWNERS ARE IRRESPONSIBLE IN RAISING THESE PUPPIES. GET THEM VACCINATED! SAME WITH THE OLDER PITS.

Today while shopping my mom & I had a very close call. We parked and the car next to us had 3 people and a pit in it. Sorry to say but yes they all were what I would call white trash. Anyways mom got out and the pit jumped in the back came almost all the way out the window and damn near got her arm, Needless to say the owners done nothing , not even oh we are sorry nor did they even roll up the window. They just laughed.
People like this give the dog a bad name, and things like this that happen make people hate the breed. |

| I know! thats what I told my mom, it happened so fast. I really think it would have come all the way out if mom had not jumped back in the car. I had mace on me , Something I always carry when we shop but I could see it now not only would I have to get the dog off of my mom I would have had to deal with its owners as well. |
