Well it took 3 years but we finally sold our house last month. We took a hit and had to borrow $22,000 to pay off the rest of what we owed to the mortgage company...we started out at $104,000 ,,,,owed $102,000 and sold it for $85,000 but it was worth it for it to be gone. one week before our realtor contract was up the realtor finally decided to do some work after being with us for 6 months. We got a land contract offer but after talking to a lawyer about it we decided not to do it. The last day of the contract I get a call from a realitive that was looking for a house to buy. Showed it to him and sold it the day after our realtor contract ended. Talk about the right person at the right time! We were so happy not to have to pay a realtor 6% or we would have had to borrow more money at the end.
I am so happy that it is finally gone. The buyer loves it and we know he will take care of it. We knew what kind of person we wanted to buy our home and even though we had plenty of offers to rent and rent to own we stuck it out till the right person came along.
We had already been through the rental process and it was bad and knew that we didnt want to go through that again and a land contract would not have done us any good at all either.
I had a woman who was obsessed with trying to do a land contract with us. she would wait until a realtor sign was gone and call us. she called us for 3 yrs and we turned her down every time. We felt there was something really fishy about this woman, we felt that if she wanted it bad enough she would just buy it outright. She gave us so many tall tales, it was like a soap opera.
To all those people out there who are in the same boat we were, good luck! stick in there! It will sell eventually! |
