Are you supporting puppy mill and contributing to over filled shelters? And who responsible for shelter being full of unwanted pets ?Is it the dog breeders or the pet buyer? I thing its both irresponsible people buying them and irresponsible dog breeders. My wife & I have a small dog breeding business and this biz is two year old.We are trying to decide if we wont to stop all breeding or continue, I know if we stop breeding it will be because of irresponsible pet buyer. All i can do about puppy mill myself is not buy from them if they don't sell the pup they cant stay open. I thing irresponsible on both side is the only factor in the poor dogs being miss treated and this is a crying shame please visit debrayloveonechihuahua.com and enter CRIRSTMAS giveaway all info on fun and news page thank you. please leave feedback.

Your right it is shame! So many people will get a puppy mill pup because they are looking for what's cheap.

I had a lady the other week who was supposed to come down from canada to put a deposit on one of my puppies, well on the way down she stopped at a huge seattle market and saw a chihuahua puppy half the price, she called to see if I would match the price and I said no and tried explaining thath buying from a market (or swap meat, flea market etc) is not a good idea. She could care less and decided to go for the cheap puppy instead.

Its so frustrating because I just refuse to drop my prices that low not only because of the time, and money put into them but for the fear of some one reselling the pup for a profit or it getting into the wrong hands such as a puppy mill!! There is a lady who sells chihuahuas on my local kijiji and she has an average of 26 puppies up at a time all very low priced.... It is a hard battle I hope education will go a long way and people will eventually learn someday

I have bred dogs as well and decided to stop because i felt i couldnt dedicate myself fully to it, unless you are doing everything possible to ensure your pups are as healthy and well bred as possible by showing, health testing, waiting lists, training, then its not worth doing it. All these things take time and money, I dont see how anyone could have a business breeding dogs if they were doing it properly, its just impossible unless you are extremely lucky.

I may breed again but I will make sure i do everything possible to ensure the health of my pups and there future.

I know what you are talking about. I have been breeding Shih Tzu's for 9 years. And I cannot sell a pup for 350. I was selling them for 500. I am selling all my dogs and getting out of breeding. They are shoting down puppy mills all over. Another one in GA with 200. Selling them for 220 each fixed shots and mic. chiped. Plus there are too many people selling shih tzu's in GA. In AJC they are 19 littiers adds.

Has anyone answered a dog wanted ad where the person posts a price, stating they don't care what kind of puppy as long as it is between 8 - 10 weeks old. Then when you reply to the ad, they offer you a fraction of the price they posted. This gives me a creepy feeling, like they are buying them to resell to a testing lab or puppy mill. Anyone else feel this way?

Hi, you are so right! The Backyard Breeders should receive big fines and prison time. We are the ones who got to clean up behind those "Breeders".
We rescued 2 pure breed females (Great Dane & Labrador), both so bad in shape that we couldn't see that both of them were pregnant. We try to find lifetime homes for the puppies with adoption Contract. All the puppies have to be fixed in the age of 6 month!!! Pictures from the puppies on this Webpage.

My family (in Germany) breed Great Danes for yrs and we charge a high price for our puppies. Serious Buyers pay the high price and respect the dog as a family member and not as property. Those backyard breeder try to make the fast money and don't care where the puppies end up. And all the buyer's should feel ashamed who buy a dog from breeder like that, because they help them in their dirty business.
Oh by the way to all the buyers:
MOST OF THE TIMES THE PAPERWORK (AKC PAPERS) ARE INCORRECT!!! THEY GOT SO MANY DOGS THAT THEY CAN USE A PEDIGREE CHAMPIONLINE FOR ALL THE DOGS. IT's ILLEGAL, BUT WHO HAVE THE CONTROLL OVER IT!!! AND DON'T YOU THINK THEY MAKE RESEARCH ABOUT HEALTH ISSUSES BY THE DOGS! WHATEVER YOU SAVE WHEN YOU BUY A PUPPY FROM THOSE PEOPLE YOU HAVE TO PAY OVER THE YEARS IN VET BILLS. NO SERIOUS GOOD BREEDER CAN GIVE OUT THE PUPPIES THAT CHEAP!!! SERIOUS BREEDERS HAVE HIGHER COST: RESEARCH, STUD SERVICE, VET BILLS, SHOTS, HEALTHY BALANCE FOOD AND SO ON!

Sorry for my English....lol....I'm original from Germany...I still hope I could make my point
