Kijiji is designed for local trading. We intentionally do not enable you to post your Ad in multiple cities simultaneously. Please post your Ad in the city – or closest city – where you or your item is located.

Posting an ad in a city outside of the state in which you live is prohibited on our site. Please keep any ads posting only in the cities within the state that you reside.
Thanks!

I was all excited about finding this site today, but without multiple cities it isn't going to work for me. I am in Southern Illinois, only about 70 miles from St. Louis, but can't post any Ad's in that city. The cities that are listed in my state are way up north, at least 200 miles away! Please let me post Ad's in the city closest to me, which is St. Louis! What do you say?

Kijiji is a group of free, local, community-based classifieds websites. Kijiji offers a convenient, fun, and easy way for people in the same city to meet, trade, share ideas, and help each other out in areas such as goods, cars, services, housing, jobs, and personals. As such that is why we prohibit allowing out of state ads.
Cheers,

Maybe later on it will be feasible to add multiple cities. I'll continue to watch and see. I will still follow the St. Louis Ad's because that is where I am most of the time and I don't see any objections being posted to keep me from buying something that is posted in St. Louis. I just won't be able to sell anything there, or anywhere unless you add some Southern Illinois cities like Carbondale or Marion. (Hold that thought!) I am in Southern Illinois and centered in the middle of St. Louis, Mo., Evansville, In., and Paducah, Ky. about 70 miles or so in either direction. So anyway, thanks so much Kijiji_Kelly!

previous replies illustrate my reason for the post. Posting in one place may be ok for major metro areas, but I and many others live in the boondocks, and single posts don't help much. Please cosider the multiple post requests

That is exactly my point. I am in a small community with the Closest City to me being St. Louis. There is St. Louis Missouri and E. St. Louis Illinois with the Mississippi running between the two cities of St. Louis! St. Louis is in Illinois also!!! I wonder if Kijiji_Kelly knows that.

Be careful that your geographies aren't so rigid that they can't handle bi-state and tri-state communities.

No I am not familiar with every region of the country yet, however, I'm becoming more familiar daily!
It is my job to see what our community wants, and to pass along all the suggestions to the development team for consideration. Every suggestion is noted. Remember we are still very new to the scene with this site and this is just the beginning for us, more categories/cities will be added so the best way to get your city on the site is to get as many people to request it as possible.
Cheers,

I would suggest that if someone who lived in a region of the country where their closest "major city" was in another state or region, that they might register in that community and not in their own.
My take on Kijiji is that it is intended to provide this service for each local community.
If your "local community" is in another region, you should probably register in that community and not in one which is many miles from your home, though it be in your own state/county etc.
Just a thought. |

Hello Kijiji Kelly? Where did you go? I'm confused by what you are telling me that because I am in Southern Illinois that I cannot post ads in the closest city to me, which is St. Louis, because I have to stay in my own state. How come I am seeing ads in St. Louis from companies that are located in Southern Illinois, but posting in St. Louis? Does this mean that I also can post in St. Louis and ignore Kijiji rules? I am not trying to be hard to get along with and I don't want to break any rules, but it isn't fair for other people to break the rules either. Hey Selina, Ryan, and Cole? Somebody help me out here. I see at least 3 homes that are located in Southern Illinois that have ads listed in the St. Louis area. So why am I not allowed to list my ads in this area even if they aren't houses? I am just not understanding something here, could someone please explain? Thanks.

Our vacation rental is actually in Cabo San Lucas. I'm in So Cal. There isn't a category for Mexico, so where would I post. I do like the look and ease of use of Kijiji better than CL.

If you see anyone violating our policies please let us know via email so that we can look into it. As it stands you can post in any city that is whithin your state that you reside, you cannot post out of state.
Regards,

I want to praise this site...although I have yet to actually sell anything. It is a fine medium to have at hand. Thank you!!
I have property listed in my local region...as per strict, unbending rules. On property for sale/rent issues, Kijiji Kelly, one might want to be able to list in other regions for a new market and more exposure to enable a hopefully quick sale/rental on their listing...(???)
What I have done is send many emails... "spread the word" about this wonderful new site...sharing it with all my friends to "Please, come in and look around! List your ads, see all of mine!"
Perhaps if they are or know someone who is looking to buy anything, they can come here
It seemed the only way to get the word out about this site. I have not yet met anyone who knew! We have to have rules. Let's use them wisely.
Again, thank you
