You have seen nothing until you have seen my yorkie at work,I do believe she may be going to the cops for more training.I realize she is not a GSD,but she is fully trained.
We have renamed her Vonyorkason.Do you like the name.

Anne, please feel free to ask questions,I will try to answer them with all the honesty I am capable of,much like a couple of other posters on here. Very Happy

I would love more details on this. I think Yorkies would make fantastic working dogs. I bet that bite to take down the criminals is dangerous. How do you control it so she knows when to stop, so she does not rip them to threads. I would be very leary of that.

I do love the name. I have been thinking of getting my peke and Minpin into working as a police dog. SInce they can hide easily in the officers gun holster. So any advice or examples on your dog would be magnificant.

the peke would probably be best for that anne...as i have heard they are very vicious dogs and are always very agressive and work oriented .jmo.and i am positive the mini pin especially yours would make a good working dog as they are vicious little devil dogs Razz

I will just give a few examples,as I don't want to bore the other trainers.

I don't think this will bore anyone since you really know your stuff.

Quote:
First and foremost, you must teach the little dogs to nip at the officers ankles.(Makes the cop run faster to catch the bad guy)

They would like that it will help them burn those calories after eating all the donuts. They should make that mandatory training for officers. Maybe they can fit that in their training.

Quote:
Next all officers must be approved by me before my yorkies being placed with them. For example they must have deep pockets to carry the yorkie in.

I think that will be nice. I am sure my boy would fit easily in any pocket. Mine has a very dangerous bite. I know people are PETRIFIED of my big brute, right Candy?

Quote:
And of the utmost importance is the safety of the dog,the cop MUST stand in front of the dog at all times, especially during any gun play, cause Yorkies do NOT play nice with dangerous weapons.

I believe that is very important because you never know what a yorkie would do agains someone with a deadly weapon. We have to make sure criminal get a chance to get their day in court. You would not want the yorkie to seriously hurt them.

I sincerely hope I have given you the info you need to get started on training your own personal protection issues with your dog.
I wish you much success.

Thank you very much. I will work on training him now in the back yard. Do you have any ideas on how to set up my back yard for this? Since I have no training or any knowledge...I will just wing it. I will post a sign and say it is an award winning dog training acadamy.

Thanks for all your help.

You know your demon might be good too. I know if one was chasing me I would scream and run for my life. They are very scary.

There would be no crime whatsoever if we got the fully trained Yorkie involved. Three dangerous dogs fighting crime. How amazing would that be?

I personally start my training with a man,any man will do(one that you don't care much for, husband boyfriend you get the picture) and begin the biting process
.

My husband and son would be perfect for that. I have an ex too...I could use him too.

Quote:
It is also very helpful if you own a weapon that you can fire randomly in the back yard.

My son has a soft air gun...I will try that.
Quote:

a) it keeps the neighbors running(more practice for the dog)

My neighbors really need the exercise so it would be good for all involved.

Quote:
b)the cops come on a regular basis so the dog can get used to them.

I wish their was a way to get the firemen involved in this. I have a thing for them.

Hope this is of some help Anne.

It helps greatly.[/quote]

Please feel free to ask further questions,as I am always up to giving answers when it comes to protection training.
I am not at all sure that an air rifle will do the trick as they don't go BANG,so you might want to rethink that idea.
The idea of using the son or husband is obviously a great idea, might want to hold out on the ex though somedays they come in handy for the seat of the pants bite, which has not been discussed at this point

Seat of the pants bite, will I need a chair for my dog?

NO that is where the leap and bite comes in,but that should be some of the last training you do with your little dog.
Sorry I just don't think your dog is ready to take that leap just yet.
Please keep me informed of your progress

I think I will have to work on getting a jet pack for him first before he can try that.

I will let you know. I think he has the growling down pat...I can make him sound like a gremlin just by waking him. So that is scary and will certainly intimidate people.

I am going to go try the gun now.

As I said please keep me posted, please try to not let the dog growl to much as it tires them before you get the complete 16 hours per day of training in.
Always remember when the kog gets tired to sing nick nack paddy whack give the dog a bone and this seems to encourage them to continue working even when they are exhausted,

NOW THAT WAS FUNNNNNYYYY

If you can't sing at least try steriods, that also is beneficial to your little dog, they will soon bulk up and get bigger, thus you can train a few longer hours and the dog won't realize it is tired.

Yes I think my minpin definitley needs steriods...so he can be the best he can be.

You mean 18 hours instead of 16...no prob.

sorry it took so long to answer had to go to the store and get some stuff,so we worked on the agility training, she did NOT make good time so we had to go twice
Now I have invited people over to work on her protection and ankle biting, had to take her back a step as I forgot the song for the moment
Got her some booze and she remembered it.

Drugs and alcohol are always the answer.
