|
|
I guess I am back to the basics.. The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
Right now, I am just curlin up in my room, reading this wonderful, naive book.
I started... I mean, intended to read this book when I was about 12 years old, but then, I had to drop the book, because it was too heavy for me... to heavy for my young mind, even if the cartoon was nice and the story was in fact, for kids.
But until the moment when I picked it up again at 18 years old, I realized it wasn't for kids. It was meant to depict kids in their most naive sense of foreboding, to picture that ADULT who has forgotten how to be a kid.
This book brought me to new heights of understanding.
It is a wonderful insightful book that I will never get tired of.

I'm reading Alan Campbell's Iron Angel, sorta dark fantasy/science fictiony genre. It's a follow up to Scar Night, which came out last year, or the year before.
So far, it's really good. Scar Night was great, too, IMHO. |

Just finished reading Sidney Sheldon's "Are you afraid of the dark?" I think that Sheldon is good and reliable... Didn't like this as much as "Windmill of the Gods".
Love ANYTHING James Patterson! |

I am about 2/3rds done with the book I'm reading right now. It's Angels & Demons by Dan Brown. If you have heard of the book or movie that came out a couple years ago "The DeVinci Code" with Tom Hanks, well this is the prequal to it. And actually I read last week that they are in the works in making Angels & Demons, and they are hoping for it to be done in order to come out May 2009. Who knows if they are going to though, I read that the producers were having trouble getting permission to film in one of the churches because the story line is against what those pastors (whatever they are called there) beliefs.
Anyways, my husband talked me into reading this book because it was so good. And I'll tell you, if I didn't have all these other books for school to read I would have been done this book long ago. It's getting really intense!

Just curious what everyone out there is reading right now? I thought this might be a great way to let people discuss their favorite books, and maybe find some new ones to enjoy!
Right now I am currently reading Angels and Demons (literally just started) and I also have in the works Cosmic Connection by Carl Sagan and The Cell by Stephen King. A few of my favorite books are The Chrysallids (John Wyndham), Enders Game (Orson Scott Card), The Neverending Story (Michael Ende), Siddhartha (Hermann Hesse), Davinci Code (Dan Brown), The Alchemist (Paulo Coehlo), and Contact (Carl Sagan). I also love Shel Silverstein and anything by Dr. Seuss

Hi Kelli,
I don't read books I look at the pics. lol
No seriously, I LOVE to read. But don't have the patience to sit still long enough, or get sleepy reading.
Sounds like a very good selection of very interesting novels and books you are reading.
But I dunno about Stephen King though. lol I DO know Dr Suess from my kids when I would read to them when they were small.
Loved that part most of all.

I just finished reading "My First Sin" by Lili Dauphin. It is the third story of Tilou, a child growing up in poverty stricken Caribbean. Tilou never ceases to amaze me. She has a strength and wisdom far beyond her years. She teaches us kindness when others are mean to her, forgiveness when she is betrayed by her best friend, generosity when she is poor with little food to eat and tattered clothes, hope when there seems to be none, faith when things go wrong.
I loved Lili's other books too. Check out her website "Islandlili.com" |

OMG. I remember "the Little Prince". I read that book too. Amazing thing is that this book is still around. I read it more than 40 years ago.
It's nice to know it is still around. |
