Hi everyone!

Has anyone ever heard of FREERICE.COM?

For those of you that have not, it is a site where you can go and pick the definition to a word it fits and for every word you get right rice is donated to help feed hungry people.

It is addictive! Smile

I think it is a cool site, cuz you can learn words that you might not know and if you have children they can learn words, but it also helps feed people and its fun.

Whether you want to call it a nice trick or cheating... If I came across a word I didn't know, in a new browser I went to dictionary.com and looked it up. This way I did get the right answer, but also reading the definition I learned a new word.

That is a pretty cool site too. One thing though, I wish they would also have the rice measurement converted to cups or something. 1/4 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/2 cup. Just because how many grams equal to what? I'm just not familiar with grams I guess.

I have done that like 1 or 2 times when I first started. Not very many people are used to grams but hey you can also learn grams on here to. Laughing.

I try to get 1,000 pices of rice every day, that is my good help thing every day, you know just to feel good about being able to help.

A little bit goes a long way.
A little help could save a life.
A little rice can do both.

By the by I figured it out. They were talking about grains of rice not grams.

Anywho, I looked it up on Wikianswers.com, have many grains of rice are in a cup. It said:

Answer: Approximately 7,200 grains of rice are in a cup.

Explanation: A grain of rice weighs between 20 and 30 mg. A cup of rice weighs about 7 oz or about 217724mg.

Note: There's a game on the Internet that donates money for rice to help with world hunger. Every time you answer a vocabulary question correctly, the site donates 20 grains of rice. If you could answer 12 questions correctly every minute you play, you'd only have to play about 30 minutes to earn a cup of rice. http://www.freerice.com

I thought that was soo cool especially how it tells about the freerice.com site!

So now that there is a fairly clear picture of how much rice you are donating, you can now visualize over a week, month or whatever how much...

Oh, what I'm doing as well is taking the words and keeping them in a list. I'm going to use them just like a "word of the day" for my husband and I so that we are broadening our vocabulary.
