Not sure of spelling, pardon me. Great to see so many Bird lovers, and pet people in general. I used to have an amazing Yellow Naped Amazon Parrot named Hymie, Nickname Hymie Coo coo. I bought him about 15 years ago at Flo's Pet Shop in LA. Spoke french, sang opera, many songs, loved to dance, sing with me in the shower, and slurped up my pasta and sighed "mmmmmmm gooooood" His highlight was perfecting the sound of lovemaking. I got married, he hated my husband and attacked him frequently. I gave him back to Flo, but should have got rid of the husband. Now divorced, and Flo's Pet Shop has closed, just wondered if any of you might know of his whereabouts. He was very special, and I have kept his photo on my desk for years, missing him, and wondering how, and where he is. Do any of you know of Hymie? Or, know if Flo is still living? PLease let me know if you have any info. Thanks, and all the best for you and your pets.

Where there's a will there's a way. Don't give up hope on finding Hymie. Through the use of the internet you can post on tons of bird sites and it would help too if you can add the pic of your bird and possibly the leg band number if he had one. Who knows where he could have ended up and could even have possibly gone into a breeding program. I know that may not sound good but frequently birds are rehomed because owners give up on birds that may be aggressive to family members. Not your fault...store owners just fail to hand out that little tidbit on certain species of birds and amazons do tend to pick one person to bond to. I have two amazons I dearly love but my husband wouldn't think of trying to pick one of them up. Now if my female double yellow head does end up on the floor he'll pick her up and put her back on her stand but the yellow nape....forget it, I don't even want him to attempt touching him because I wouldn't want him to get bitten.
It's just the way they are! So...post an add on breeder sites as well. I know someone who raises several different species of birds and her amazon breeders still talk so it's a dead giveaway on personal pets that became breeders instead of staying in a pet home.

Thank you so much for taking the time to send your kind compliment. Forums are great, and I love my Mac, and the Web, but there is a serious void, in good ole Hospitality, and just taken a moment here and there, to help someone, or make someone feel good. You are the first person that has posted a reply to me, just because. You didn't have any info on Hymie, and you could of just went on to something else, but you knew from my post and having the same pet, how I felt, and could relate. It takes a very special person to handle and properly care for birds, especially parrots. They are more like children, than pets. They are intelligent, beautiful, and very sensitive. They can figure us humans out, in a sec. My hymie never bit me or any of my close friends, until my husband came into the picture. How stupid was I, to take 14 years to figure out he was an ass hole!!! Should have been more concerned about Hymie, and got rid of my now Ex husband, but it was God's gift to have my son Max who is 12, and amazing with animals. Anyway, I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated you taking the time, and suggesting I check into the breeders, as they might just know of him. He is an amazing bird, and the original owner who was French trained him remarkably, but had to move back to France, so I found him at Flo's Pet Shop in LA. He wasn't for sale! She kept him in the front window, and was the star of the shop, and I used to come and just visit with him 2 or 3 times a week, then finally she said " I found Hymies new Mama, It 's you" I couldnt believe it! I was scared to death at first, then once I got him home, we were best buddies. I really miss him. My favorite thing he used to say was " Arghhhh Matie, shiivvverr me timbeeerrsss, It's the Pirate life for me" Laughing
