| Since this is owned by Ebay wouldn't this, Kijiji, be considered "completive activity"? |

| I didn't know anything about Kijiji until I read a news article that Craigslist had countersued eBay over this website. The article said eBay is calling Kijiji the "Craigslist killer". |

Folks, don't you realize that E-Bay owns 25% of Craigslist, in the form of non-voting stock?
There is no real competition......CL is the 800 pound gorilla in classifieds.
however, Kijiji *could* develop into a real community! wait & see |

Yes, DJ, I did know that eBay owns a percentage (I thought it was 28%) of CL but I didn't know about kijiji.com until CL filed suit against eBay. |

Kijiji was probably not the best choice of name. Who speaks Swahili? Not too many people.
Kijiji has made very little effort to publicize the site. As others point out, unless you are reading business news you won't know about it and even if you do, you might not retain the name Kijiji in your active memory.
They need to advertise it on Ebay. Craig needs some competition. I try to spread the word on Kijiji but I only know so many people. |

| Honestly by filing the lawsuit Craigslist probably brought more pub to this site than they could have gotten with 100 PR articles. |

Craigslist is the biggest classified ad site. That does not mean they are the best.
It will be interesting to see if kijiji will be creative and try doing some things that cragislist does not. Or will kijiji remain in the shadow of the giant? Only blindly copying CL ideas and policies?
Local purchase from a local source does not assure the prevention of fraud for the seller or the buyer. Do you really want to meet a complete stranger after work at the coffeeshop, show them your diamond ring and accept a check for payment?
A secure method of payment like PayPal should be acceptable by kijiji for the benefit of the seller and buyer. |

people have been asking for Paypal to be integrated for awhile. I do know they are aware of this and it is being considered, not sure what ultimate decision will be. We really do try to enforce local trading and cash transactions as a safest way to trade.
